BMW Isetta, The Egg of the Century (D)

Forty years have passed since the presentation of this quaint 1950s "bubble car," and in that time, the Isetta has transformed from a symbolic vehicle of the economic miracle era into a sought-after collector's item. At around 2,500 marks, it was only half the price of a Volkswagen Beetle, and its owners had the advantage over the then-common motor scooters of staying dry. Here is its lovingly recounted history.
