Closed Underground stations hold a unique fascination. A street level building that recognisably was once an Underground station or a break in tube tunnelling that hints at a disused platform attracts our curiosity. Imagination can also be aroused. Closed stations can be the subject of fanciful stories, some of which have appeared in print and become accepted as true.
