FRENCH TEXT

The Triumph saga began in 1885 when Siegfried Bettmann, a young German, founded an import-export business in London. It would be another twenty years before the first fully in-house-built motorcycle, equipped with a 363cc, 3hp engine, was produced in 1905. Following the Great Depression of the 1930s, the company closed its doors in 1936. But Triumph was quickly bought out, and the new firm rapidly became one of the most important British motorcycle manufacturers. Despite these difficulties, followed shortly after by the Second World War, Triumph persevered. More than just a history, this book is a true bible for enthusiasts of classic motorcycles like the Speed Twin and the Thunderbird. Year by year, from 1938 to 1966, discover the complete technical specifications of each model (frame and engine numbers, identification, characteristics, etc.), and relive the story of their international racing successes. Harry Woolridge, uniquely qualified to document and write this book, spent thirty years at the famous Triumph factory in Meriden. He owned almost every model, from the 150cc Terrier to the 750cc Trident, as well as a few pre-war versions.
